This magnificent sculpture features the powerful Indian deity, Shiva Nataraja, in stunning detail. The figure is carved from ruby in zoisite, giving it a striking coloration and a beautiful, almost luminous quality. Shiva is depicted in the midst of his divine dance, with one foot raised high as he gracefully steps on the head of a dwarf that represents ignorance and negativity. In one hand, he holds a drum, which he beats rhythmically to symbolize the beat of the universe. His other hand is raised in a gesture of blessing and protection. Behind him, a number of cobra snakes are depicted, also dancing in time with the beat of Shiva's drum.
